Droid Questions
I'll be back IG in about three weeks and plan on starting up a DE. I was wondering if anyone would share a list of any named rare resources I may need, and any tips would be appreciated.
Also, hello and how do I change the server under the avatar?

Re: Droid Questions
Welcome here and congrats to your first post.
How much I hate it I must refer you to the official SWG/Soe forums:
I know there is a guide named something such as Droid Engineering 101 at the for Trader (Engineer), have a look in the stickied threads. It definitely lists all resources, and I think it names those that are "rare".

Re: Droid Questions
If you're going to grind your way up
May I suggest you start as an Architect?(structures)
You can get from 10 to 90 in a day, or a few days of a more casual style.
1-10 survey tools (53) (36k materials)(10 minutes)
10-18 wind power generator (28)(9200 metal, 2900 steel, 2600 ore, 1900 alum)(10 minutes)
18-42 crafting stations (without optional components)(171)(77k metal)(30 minutes)
42-86 Fountains (325)(325k ore, 98k metal, 163k water)(90 minutes)
86-90 Gungan Heads (50)100k ore, 50k gem)(15minutes)
The resource amounts are a bit shy I think, original post here:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/post ... _id=251254
You'll need a buttload of resources but this is the fastest, make everything in "practice mode" (wee bit more experience)
After 90, respec to what you want. =)

Re: Droid Questions
I prefer to grind with walls (making them - no practise).
Reason:
It don't need water & It's really usefull (much less resources to waste - if you dont need them by yourself - others can use them)
But it need about 14 hours longer (if i calculate it correct).
So i suggest:
Make Survey tools - from the start till CL10: Structure Fundamentals IV
- make 53 tools using ~1650 metal, ~10 minutes
Then make Wind Power Generators - until CL18 : Structure Fundamentals VI
- make ~28 windmills using 9200 metal, 2900 steel, 2600 ore and 1900 aluminum, ~10 minutes
Then Crafting stations - until 42 : STructure Essentials VI
- make ~175 stations, 77k metal, ~30 minutes
Then wall modules (and structure modules to make walls) until the end (less resources waste because walls can be used or sold)
1. Requires 200 units of Metal
2. Requires 100 units of Metal
3. Requires 200 units of Low-Grade Ore
4. - Requires 10 Structural Module
1. Requires 50 units of Metal (Total:500)
2. Requires 100 units of Low-Grade Ore (Total:1000)
3. Requires 100 units of Low-Grade Ore (Total:1000)
need about 290 walls = 640k ore 232k metal
Total: 320 metal 643k ore 1.9k alu 2.9 steel

Thanks all for the advice. By the time I'm back IG, I should have enough resources.

Re: Droid Questions
Actually with DE you can speed grind pretty quickly only needing a few metal rescources for X-34's and Swoops both of which sell well while your grinding. Youc an also use all your left over rescources on droids unlike wiht Structures grind as you don't need ore in a R2 unit.

Re: Droid Questions
I hate to necro but it has to be said. Speed grinding on vehicles is horribly inefficient as it burns over 7 million metal. As for R2s not using ore you'll find that most of the subcomponents require ore of one kind or another

Re: Droid Questions
Welcome around, good points.
Yes, I have written lengthy posts on the topic of Trader profession progression and I still hope the Devs will do something about it.

Re: Droid Questions
I realize it's off topic, but since we're talking speed grinding for various traders, how about Chefs?
Re: Droid Questions
I think it is something like large jars or another simialar component.

Re: Droid Questions
Now see it's only been two weeks, and I've since determined:
a) Their is no speed grinding for chefs. You either like what you're doing and enjoy the slow ride up, or you should respec.
b) You're not going to get rich off foods
c) T'ssolosk sounds like something from Vulcan.
d) Hunting for meat is a seriously time consuming activity.
e) I should have put my expertise points into tailor.

Re: Droid Questions
No, you did the right thing putting expertise into chef over tailor. The tailor side receives no benefit from experimentation and while there is no fast grind to 90 doing practice runs of large drink containers gets you a lot of xp per unit and only requires one resource type

Re: Droid Questions
But what about money? Is there good money to be made from socketed clothing?
Oh yeah, and
f) That, as a chef, I have a greater appreciation for Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain.

Re: Droid Questions
Depends on how you define "good money". Almost all clothing sells, actually.
It's all in what you want to do as a crafter. Tailor is usually more "hand-crafting" of the final product whereas chef is usually factory-crafting. DE touches on both, with some items better off made in factories and other items are custom-built by hand.
