I may have a look at this. However, if you use the "Harvesting" tab and set the option to alert 24 hours or more (I have 28 hours) you are able to see harvesters going low/full. I had a thingie working which also tinted the tab-knob but I had to revert it because of another error, it will be back. And there is a request for an acoustic alert when they are going low/full so... Whatever, it requires you to launch SWGAide every day, but it won't be able send emails either, unless it is running 8)

Let us say that mail-alert (or SMS or whatever ;)) is not the highest priority, I'd rather get back on coding the schematics tab. I had come quite far when I had to rush back into the redesign of resource handling so now I just have to re-read what was done and not. Christmas holidays are coming and spare time with them

OK here is one I have been thinking about but I am not 100% certain of its value...

The ability search your inventory using your guards.

I am a bit tired by now, bit is this not what happens if you at the right-click popup dialog at guards select the "Show from inventory" and the select a guard, with the difference that the inventory entries are merged with the current resources. If the guard is not triggered you must of course deselect the "Hide empty guards" but that you must do anyway. If I have misunderstood you, please elaborate.

That said, I think some of what you aim at will come when schematics support is added. However, I am open for ideas and arguments :)

rohie wrote:Hi everybody,

I am thinking to find an easier way to update stats for current resources. I myself submit resources without stats, using res. txt (ISD file) or rem.txt.
res.txt is ordered by planet where rem.txt is ordered by type, which makes filling the stats much easier. With rem.txt you open and browse the crate liniar wihout going back and forth between resource types or scrolling up and down like in the res.txt file.
I noticed all resources without stats have the stats set at zero. If we can have a flag to select the current resources with OQ=0 then you can generate a rem.txt file with all the current resources in database without stats. If we can have this I would not bother with filling the stats in res.txt. Just send the droids, wait for mail, /mailsave, submit 1 and 2, generate res.txt, submit res.txt.
Generate rem.txt with age=0, resource=mineral (or gas, chemical, flora, water, creature, whatever you want to fill at that moment), OQ=0 and you get in rem.txt all current resources without stats.

This request, an option to filter for stat-less, is now implemented and is included in next version of SWGAide (an hour from now). There are two new things regarding this:
  • An option at the resource-class//planet drop-down list to filter for Stat-less (at the bottom).
This option will write all resources reported without stats to the notes file.
  • All other filters will always include stat-less resources in the output, tagged with add-stats.
Specified resource-class//planet to filter for is considered in this case.
In both cases the age chooser is not considered, stat-less resources should be updated if it s possible, no matter their age.

More that this, anybody using swgaide can generate this rem.txt any time, you do not have to send the droids again. All this can render the res.txt file obsolete. I tried to delete from the res.txt file the entries for which I didn't entered resources but it didn't work lol. And it is right like this. I am curious to know your opinions about this.

No, I do not think we can rule out the power of ISDroids and using res.txt. ISDroids win over manual updating always, there is no way that manual is faster. Perhaps if you just look at a specific resource class, I do creature resources and am pretty fast in that. But consider browsing through all of Flora, that will take a lot of more time, the waiting time until the reports arrive excluded. And it is no way that you can do Inorganic faster because you must establish if a class is spawning or not using the survey device, on planet after planet. ISDroids do all 10 core planets in one sweep and you sit in your workshop and look up the stats in the 30k tool.

However, the two very different options together makes SWGAide support whatever updating scheme a player want to use.

If there are even further ways to improve SWGAide so it can support SWGCraft the better, I am always all ears!!!

Tharek Tolemac wrote:The already mentioned addition would be nice:

When clicking on a resource from inventory in a filter, the details could show also the notes made in inventory.

In this context, it would be nice to have an option to add notes to the resource directly in the filter.

For example, I can just write "Bones filter" without searching it in inventory. Makes it comfortable to add which resource is used it which filter.
This feature is included in SWGAide in full from the new version that is up in an hour. All panels under the Resources tab now can filter the inventory for the resource class of the selected resource. This includes active harvesters.

Just scanning through the list. Have I missed something or are all requests that are possible/sensible to implement covered by now? :?: :?: :?:
The harvester alert excluded, and it will be in the next release after this one.

The ability to install swgaide with the use of limited features without having the game installed. This way I could still choose a server and browse resources and look at schematics when that is up and working. Another idea is the ability to sync data from 2 installs of swgaide on 2 different machines, I would like this since I play on my laptop when I am away from home for work. All of this may be more trouble than it is worth though, just some thoughts. Swgaide is still a great tool without these feature, thanks

This is noted. It will be possible when I have made it possible to edit the path to SWG. Why then? Because first I must modify some code to make all affected file paths relative. This means that they do not depend on for example C:\Program... but they are more flexible. I was a bit naïve when I implemented that stuff 3½ years ago

Again it must wait until the above becomes true. What you can do today is the following
  • Install SWG so both --- or more --- computers have exactly the same path to SWG, for example C:\SWG\ or whatever
  • Never delete mails in-game until SWGAide is synchronized on all computers, otherwise they will exist at one computer but not in the other.
  • Copy the file SWGAide.DAT between the computers
Keep your breath while doing it though, it is easy to get out of sync somewhere.

Didn't somebody install SWGAide on an USB-stick? I have a vague memory of that and it worked, ... but? Anyway, the crucial thing is to have SWG installed at identical file paths.
And again, SWGAide is open source, developers are welcomed :)

Just remember, SWG must still have identical file paths at the several computers.

Is it possible to have different guards active for different toons on the same account? I've made up a guard list of all meats/hides/bones from the other guard lists posted on this site and would like to assign that to my combat toon; then, if i fancy a bit of fund-raising harvesting I can see what's in spawn and off I go. However, my combat toon shows the same guards as my trader, and removing them from the combat toon's guards removes them from both.

I could get around it for now by either creating a trial acct and assigning it to that, or renaming the guards to names that will group together on sorting and merge it with my trader's list, but allowing seperate guard lists for each toon would be great.

As always, keep up the good work, it's much appreciated :)

As you say, currently all guards display when there is anything around within the time frame you have set for the guards.

It is on my TODO-list to split out guards to its own panel, still under the general Resources tab, but its own panel. It won't happen anytime soon though, time is limited. I embrace any Java programmer to chime in though, this one won't be too hard since all supportive logic is there, almost at least, so it is the GUI wiring that remains to be done.

Guards will still show at the Current Resources as they do today, I am just thinking of a panel with more bells and whistles. And then per toon (or rather assignee), per profession, per resource class are natural options to have, right? And the mix of them of course.

Thanks for your ideas, let them keep coming, if it is easy and quick its there in a snap, otherwise later. Everybody, let the ideas come, even the small or not-so-good-at-first-sight, you never know ;)

I am still amazed over the awesome idea Maninspace posted not long ago, such a small thing makes my life so much easier, thanks again MiS

As a rude and crude workaround while the above idea is still ... just an idea:

I use to have the time frame for guards between 24 and 48 hours, determined by how much I play.
-- "But ... that will make them vanish after that time frame! And I forget about them!"

Yes, I do too :D
So I add a monitor on the interesting resources, and there they are listed until they deplete.
This is what I do for all creature resources of interest, and my combat toon looks at that list.
It works for me, but obviously it is not the ideal way.

Cheers

IMHO: :) I like the guards function as they do now ...inclusive of all my toons. If the guard is important enough to be in my list, then I should be acting on it, even if it's for another profession/class. Else edit or remove the guard in question.

Now, maybe a filter (like a drop down list) would be a good idea, but it should default to show all.

One thing I would like to see is more control over the vendor statistics. The filtering works well for names and items, but I can't seem to filter by a date or range of dates. It would be nice to be able to get a daily or monthly total for vendor sales. If you used The Merchants Friend or SWGMail.com in the past you'll know what I mean.

Looking at the vendor screens, I'm not sure how you would make this work. You might need to make another tab to lay it out cleanly.

But if it's not a monumental amount of work, and you think it might be worthwhile, I'm sure other traders would appreciate it too :)
