Just a little thing

Post by Ibaum » Fri May 02, 2008 12:05 am

You guys do a great job with the site. I'd like to see a way to add a resource to more than one planet at a time... maybe check boxes on the edit resource page. For those of us who update by hand for lack of technical expertise, it would be a lot simpler than having to type in the name and choose the resource type on each planet.

Keep up the good work.

Just a spin on your idea, while my brain is still alert at this late hour. For the Devs:

Today's format for entering multiple resources is

Code: Select all

swgcraft_start
name1,class1,statA,statB,sta...
name1,class1,statA,statB,sta...
...
swgcraft_end
With a twist to whatever logic you use it would be possible to have it

Code: Select all

swgcraft_start
planet,name1,class1,statA,statB,sta...
planet,name1,class1,statA,statB,sta...
...
swgcraft_end
If "planet" is not there and at the "All Planets" page you take the submission to the next page where it is possible to choose planet. Check boxes is way faster than drop downs and also allows for submissions for several planets per resource. Otherwise the resource is only added for the current planet.

"planetarian" names makes life a tad harder of course but should be possible to work around.

Just a thought :)

Im currently looking at a new way of resource entry on the new version of the site atm, one is using part of the select planets that the resource spawns on, so with this in mind im sure we can make some amendments.

You did see this page, right? http://www.swgcraft.co.uk/dev/add_resources_multi2.php

So actually, half of the proposal in here has already been made, just need the note parsing done

Format for multi-planet:

Code: Select all

swgcraft_start
planet1,planet2,planet3,planet...,name1,class1,statA,statB,sta...
swgcraft_end
You can mix non-multi and multi entries, but you'll have to select the planet for the non-multi entries on the add_resources_multi2.php page.

If no multi-planet entries are present, it will redirect to the add_resources.php page instead
