Trying to design a new skin, what do you guys think?

There is also another possible logo in the inside we could use to fit the style.

looks good, but add some color shades to it...not much, just enough to reduce the grey feel to it.

I think you're going overboard. The site needs something simple, and easy that pops the name right in your face. Right now I think we need to concentrate more on a unified basic logo that will be on both the main site and the forums. The two need to be similar so that the two parts are clearly the same site.

In other words we need to work on branding the site, that means a unified logo and preferably and eventually matching colors across all facets of the site. We have a working color scheme in my opinion with the dev part of the site, we need to consider that in the future the forums should match that.

But for now, we could totally use a blue&gray schemed version of Inferno's medallion logo.

Realistically, though, the forums need to be saved for last. Hopefully they can be integrated more into the final design of the site, but they work as needed and who knows, the dev site design could change between now and the final release version or it could stay completely the same. I think its in the sites best interest to make all focus squarely on the work that needs the most attention, the actual SWGCraft website.

I am assuming this logo is for the top left corner of the website so I knocked something up quickly.

Then I thought the page feels very grey, maybe something with less saturation would be better...

Or even monochrome...

This is my idea of a very stereotypical (i.e. uses star wars font) logo. I'm not sure if it is the kind of thing you are after especially as the design brief simply states the required dimensions.

Let me know if im heading in the right direction.

Inferno.
Another thing caught my eye with this design, you have too much negative space between SWG and Craft. IMHO, you should bring the SWG down closer to the top of CRAFT and that will give you room to make the SWG a touch bigger to fit the space.

well stated. However, it doesnt hurt for the those working on some graphics to come up with a bunch of different ideas, while the developers/programmers do their part...I like the medallion logo myself, but, as one can cleary see...i like a bit of color. Once i have a bit more free time later this week Im going to spend some time working on a few myself.

btw, where can I get the Star Wars writing..not the huttenese or what ever its called, but the one used in the medallion logo.

keep watchdogging...its honest opinions like yours that will skyrocket this site once its ready for its big debut.

Some good stuff on there, I will do some designs when I get home and post them.

I do like the medallion ones but I agree that there is too much negative space in between the text. The bottom text seems to be too close the edge of the circle too.
