Problem with Find Resources

Post by Paria » Wed Sep 16, 2009 8:15 am

"Consider Caps?" checkbox seems to not be taken in account when Find Resources with Class set to "All Resources", the default value.

Example
Mustafarian Copper is used in Hand Sample modules and do not use OQ/CD as most of DE schematics, its caps in DR and HR are quite low.

(1) Find Resources
Class = Mustafarian Copper
Server = Chimaera
Only Available? = YES
Search By = Experimental Percentage (default)
Consider Caps? = NO (default)

Decay Resistance = 33
Heat Resistance = 33
Overall Quality = 33
> Isakt (Mustafarian Copper), Rating = 683

(2) Modify Search
Consider Caps? = YES
> Isakt (Mustafarian Copper), Rating = 893

(3) Modify Search
Names = Isakt
Class = All Resources
Consider Caps? = NO
> Isakt (Mustafarian Copper), Rating = 683

Everything is ok until here :D

(4) Modify Search
Consider Caps? = YES
> Isakt (Mustafarian Copper), Rating = 683
Here is the problem: the Rating (considering caps) should be 893.

PS: If results caps can not be known when Class = All Resources perhaps Consider Caps? checkbox should be desactivated in that case?

I just woke up, so maybe my head is still a little foggy, so let me see if Im following your problem here? When "Find Resources" is set to evaluate this copper as a "Copper" and "Consider Caps" is checked, it gives what you consider to be the correct result. When "Find Resources" is set to search for this copper as "All Resources" and "Consider Caps" checked, you think it is giving you an incorrect result. Is this what you are saying? If Im reading this right, the answer is obvious.

Having the possibility to check "Consider Caps" with "All Resources" let me believe that each Rating will be evaluated using caps of its Class (Mustafarian Copper in this case), sorry about that.

There is another thread today from a guy trying to make Incubators. He made a similar mistake, looking at the "rating" of the resource instead of at the actual stats and how they will be used in the schematic. I never look at the "rating" of a resource, either in "Find Resources" or the "Green Bar" of the crafting process. Sometimes you just have to know when a lower "rated" resource is better to use then a higher "rated" one.

SWGAide works the way Paria describes it, if no particular resource class is selected the resource itself is used for the caps. I don't know how hard that is to implement at the web server. Neither do I know if it is hard on the performance.

Not at all hard

Bingo, due to the way the database structure for caps is at the moment, it would simply be impossible to get the results back without the page timing out.
