Can some one check out the Sunrunner database,

Post by Monty Burns » Wed Dec 10, 2008 3:50 am

I have found I am adding the same Creature resources repeatedly, they appear to be making it into the database and then disappearing because every time I do an update using SWGAide I get the message that this already exists in the database.

I wouldn't worry about it if it was just 1 or 2 resources but I got 29 of these warnings in the last update and that is just a few to many to enjoy.

An example of this would be Horn, of all the Horn spawns only Dath, Endor and Talus were left in visible yet only Dant, Kash and Talus had changed, all of the other spawns had to be added again.

Was this when you added creature resources by the latest version of SWGAide? Can you, if so, post the notes file named "rem.txt" that you are using, please. SWGAide should not deplete anything that is not replaced by a new resource, or those you have marked as depleted per the help file.

This may be a bug in SWGAide and not in the forum. Hence, version and a file that misbehaves.

I don't think it is SWGAide as it is to random to be a bug (if that makes sense) this time it was Horn, last time Egg etc. and it has only started within the last week or so. Also the resources were gone before I ran the rem.txt file generator as I had been looking for any decent resources earlier in the day and they were gone then.

I only have the completed rem.txt file from last time but I guess I can post it.

As you can see it is a fairly big update made worse by close to 50% of them being reactivated. After a while that will get really frustrating.

That file really seems OK to me, exactly how mine use to look like. If you are submitting that file no harm should be done.

Three weeks back I tested different scenarios at the test "galaxy" SWGCraft.co.uk, still a bug slipped through but it is gone now and only affected you f you hit submit two times to submit the same data, then the second run depleted what you added minutes ago. The latest release really checks if it is a new resource before depleting anything.

Possibly Sobuno/Slyvampy could scrutinize the logs and get a clue from them.

Yep, as I said I didn't think it was a problem SWGAide unless someone is marking the resources as depleted via SWGAide but I am not sure why anyone would do that on such a random basis.

Could you name one specific resource that this occurs to?

The following are resources that was added to the database at 2008-12-04 21:18:16 or later by you. They have once been marked as unavailable, but have since been marked available again (And are currently available)

Adwoscic Mustafarian Fish Meat
Bonann Endorian Domesticated Meat
Orifa Yavinian Reptilian Meat
Ofeciv Endorian Avian Meat
Olooha Mustafarian Mollusk Meat
Anailm Lokian Horn
Jeuliom Corellian Domesticated Milk
Roliala Mustafarian Domesticated Milk
Isoho Mustafarian Carnivore Meat
Istih Rori Reptilian Meat
Ebiva Kashyyykian Egg
Aminabauh Mustafarian Crustacean Meat
Caneak Yavinian Horn

Are you absolutely certain that it wasn't another updater at your galaxy who messed up?

Then all of those would be examples of what I am talking about, in the last update I did 29 of the 64 resources added were being reactivated which is a bit of a pain given that at the time there is no way of telling the difference between a new resource and a reactivated resource so everything has to be retyped.

I do not know why this is happening, maybe it is another updater (although there isn't a huge number of them on Sunrunner) but it would be nice to know what is going on so it can be sorted out before it gets out of out of control.

There is a guy named Oar that marks these resources unavailable. Why, I don't know. I just checked two of the resources your mention. He can use either SWGAide, or just mark the checkboxes at the web site, or one by one.

Keep an eye on him and temporarily ban him if you need to.

Is there a pattern to it? I mean, does he only deplete unharvested resources or what?

I can't see a pattern, I assume it is just a mistake or a misunderstanding and I really don't want to discourage potential updaters but it would be nice to have it sorted.

It does seem to be confined to Creature Resources only though.

Yea, I marked them unavailable. I must have been confused. I didn't see a few in cycle, so I figured they were all buggy that were flagged Vet Crates.

I am sorry.

I saw the Veteran Crate flag, numerous times. I figured it was something going bonkers with someone's mod. I didn't realize they could reappear flagged as Crate.

I was just trying to clean up the list so its not so long and wrong.

I'll stop marking stuff here for awhile til the lists correct themselves. I will try and add new stuff that helps the community still. But I don't wanna get blamed for misinforming people. That's no good.

Also Moderator, please disregard the report about Monty's abuse. It appeared to me that he was posting out of cycle resources from Veteran crates, just gain points.

I must have been mistaken.

Happy Surveying,
Oar

Hehe I don't think anyone was blaming anyone for misinforming people it was just very confusing to be marking the same resources as available more than once.

:)

As I understand it the "Veteran Crate flag" has been added to notify users that the resources does not spawn naturally and are only available by using the Veteran Crate.

I am interested as to what is wrong with the list as I try and update it at least every 2nd day so I get multiple opportunities to pick up any mistakes with creature resources and rely on droids for all others.

PS: I think the list has corrected itself so by all means continue to do updates.

Great that everything is resolved. I was worried that I might had done some logical mistake in SWGAide.

Cheers
